Maybe with very simple things this 2d to 3d conversion can be accomplished. With quite a bit more set up time one could program using if then statements a process that can build 3d objects. Then your sales guys can do all the work in front of the customer and build your fire trucks or what ever it is you do.
But from the tone of voice you are using I suspect you have 100 drawings that need to be input into your database and that takes good old fashion muscle.
2 Hire a company with a bunch of seats in India. (cheaper)
3 Hire a company with a bunch of seats in China. (more expensive)
4 Hire design engine (very expensive)
The truth is it takes time to model each drawing then make a drawing then check the drawing. And if you asking and your not ... you should bullet point your task like this:
50% modeling
20% drawing
10% checking the drawing
10% updating the drawing
10% check it again
The last three being the most important.
this is how i would bullet point a proposal. The customer usually likes a cheep price so they kill the last 30 percent. And thats usually where the problem starts.
There are tons of people here who take drawings and build solid models for a living. Unless it is incredibly complex the most cost effective way would be options 2 and 3 from above or craigslist locally to get them done.
