3D Sections

I am trying to create a 3D view with a section.I've been told3D sections use zonesbut I haven't been able to get them to work or to find any help/tutorials on how to use them correctly.

I thought there was a way to make an assembly section and to include or exclude items from the section?

I have a valve and would like to show the assembly with the body (item four by the balloons) sectioned without having to create a cut in the model. Please let me know if there is some way to do this. It shouldn't be this tough...

Is there any connection between Zones and XSecs other than
Zones being created in the XSec interface? (I'm on WF2.
A global search of all functional areas for "3D Cross Section"
turns up one hit in Detail and what it says there doesn't jive
with the realities.)

I'd do that one of two ways ...

_ Create an Offset XSec that intersects the body and butterfly.
Exclude the butterfly. (In drawing; select the hatch -> Properties)
I can't get the exclusions to 'stick'; e.g. when the drawing is
retrieved and sheet Updated I have to toggle Restore, Exclude to
make it right again. Don't know if it's a bug, because I don't
have AAX, not holding my mouth right ...

_ Given that, I might go ahead and cut the body (part), create a
family table instance, suppress the cut in the generic, create
an assy simp rep using the cut instance and base the view on that.
