Accuracy and tolerance

Hi,

Can someone please tell me the tightest accuracy that Pro/E can accomodate? As far I know, it's 0.0001 and my working units are in milimeters.

I have to use the Pro/E generated model with The CFD software, FLUENT, whose tolerance goes to 1e-6. So there sems to be a tolerance mismatch and this is blowing my analysis out of proportion. Is there any way I can change the accuracy in Pro/E to match that of or come closer to 1e-6?

Thanks.

Hi,

Do the system settings have something to do with the config.pro file? So do I need to ask the system administrator about where to find it on the system?

From there, how do I change the settings to get a tolerance of 1e-6?

Thanks.

Hi Users4,

You can find config.pro by Tools -> Options.

You can make your own file by modify value. Remember to save it before press OK

You've just entered1E-06 into valueblank -> Add/Change ->Apply ->Save ->

Close

Hope it helpful

Best regards

There is config.pro option:

enable_absolute_accuracy yes/no

which has default value of "no". Enabling this option (yes) makes it possible to adjust model absolute accuracy instead of relative accuracy. The relative accuracy is a ratio; which is defined "smallest dimension in model divided by largest".

If your modelling is an assembly, make shure that all your components (and assy itself) are at same absolute accuracy - this will make all boolean operations more robust and gives you uniform accuracy for your components.

However, when you increase your accuracy - the regeneration times will grow.

Second method to make more accurate models is unit change. If you are modelling something very small (nano size). You might consider to change your system of units from mm to nm.

Hi Foolmankh and Mhinkkanen,

I am unable to set the acuuracy in the config. pro file. Do we need to contact the company to get this done? And once this is done, should I again to to Edit- Set up- Accuracy- and then change the value? And will this make changes to all the files or should I change each individually?

My working units are in millimeters and I want the tolerance to go down to 1E-6. I'm using Wildfire 2.0

Thanks,

VR

I've been told that the bottom limit is ireversible set after creating the first feature in a part. If you start from scratch, you should be able to break the barrier. But I'm not sure if there is an absolute minimum.

Dear All,<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

As I know, 1E-06 means 0.000001 mm (1E-06mm) (nanometer)

So, as hhrm said, you can change accurasy of relative part in ass'y. (change config.pro)

You can also change individual part (needn't change config.pro), Edit --> Setup -->

Accuracy --> OK --> Done.

Check2006-06-18_233342_accuracy_setup.zipout.

Hope this help.

Best regards

foolmankh : I thought that 1e-6 wes micrometer and not nanometer ..

Dear all,

Thanks a lot for all your help, suggestions, and comments. I wasd able to do what I wanted in ProE, but since the small gaps exists in my model, the other CFD software is just blowing up............ still have to find a way to work around that.
