My company is moving a portion of its Engineering dept. to our second manufacturing location across town, and while there is network connectivity, checking out of objects from Intralink 3.3 (on the server back at the primary location) is unacceptably slow.
I'm thinking that adding a second fileserver at this location may be the best way to go, but several questions arise. Can a second fileserver be added to an already existing database? If so is the setup of a second fileserver difficult and can the necessary objects be easily moved from the first (existing) fileserver to the second?I'm sure there's other things I haven't thought of yet as well.
Does anyone have any experience doing this?
We're also weighing our options as to whether to go with Ilink 8.0 or PDMLink when support for Intralink 3.x ends next year (thanks PTC), so if what I'm proposing is a big undertaking, are we better off making the move to the new software at the same time that we implement the second server? Thanks!
