Advanced modeling tutorial

I am working on a tutorial for advanced modeling. It's from the staffs uk site. I am trying to do the rib creation psrt and I am confused. Its telling me that because I have a free form surface I need to create a curve for the rib. I think that this tutorial is missing somthing. They are telling me to pick one half of the shelled feature and then the datum that goes thru the feature. Im doing somthing wrong? Here is the link to the tutorial The area in question is advanced modeling page 4 relating to figure 14. Please take a look at this and help me out.

TIA

I'm guessing you are on page 4, fig 14?

You probably ~are~ selecting a feature vs a surf ("The first time you pick this surface you actually select the whole shell feature.")?

This is probably a big source of frustration; picking. Commands are only active if you have the "right stuff" selected (feature, surf, intent surf, etc.?).

A few suggestions...

Watch the pre-select highlight tool tip for the object in focus (hover, look at the "status line" (? is that whatcha call it?) or graphics tool tip, pick, hover, look again ...).

Pick the plane first, start the command, then hold control and focus will be on the correct (for the command) object.

Use the Object Selection Filter. In this case set it for Geometry.

This stinking thing still does not only pick one side of the "shell" surface? I got it to work but the curve goes all the way across? It made the "rib" on one side at a time and it worked. Is there a way to select "one side only"? Do you have any deminsions for the battery tray or do you guess at it to get it close? I'm trying to teach a guy who has never used "any" 3d cad. These tutorials have me scratching my head and I have been using pro e from version 17?

Hope you're doing this where he can't see.

Without the model to look at; hover, tool tip says "some feature", pick, hover (maybe wiggle so pre-select comes back up; cyan?), tool tip says "Surf:Fx(some feature)? Alternately, set selection filter to Geometry. It should pick a single face by default.

There is (I ~think~, can't remember how to get to it; thru the startup "Resource Center" thingy?) a PTC tutorial that covers Wildfire object selection techniques.

Re the battery tray dimensions: I'm not sure; haven't been thru that tutorial. If you wanna post your model maybe someone will pick it up and lend a hand.
