Another VarSecSweep problem

<DIV>Hello, I'm new, so my problem might seem simple to most of you, but that will hopefully increase my chances of someone coming up with a solution.</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>I've been creating a tire with a simple tread. I initially cut the rread with a VarSecSweep/Pivot Dir. I added a sketch relation that read as follows: sd17 = sin(trajpar*360*40)*5</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>The resulting tread looked like a soft, wavy line. I then recieved word that the tread had to be sharper, more like sharp teeth.</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>Is there any way to adjust my relation or command to get the desired result?</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV>Thanks in advance!</DIV>

I can picture your problem.... I guess I need more info still or to go
try what you are suggesting. You probably would not adjust the
relation as much as you would adjust the graph itself. Can you
add a screen shot so we can see what you see (or the model?)

Here is an image to help show my problem. I've drawn in red the cut I want as opposed to the existing cut. The cut revolves around the tire, the curve it follows is shown in orange.

FYI: I'm using an older version, ProE 2001

Well first a sin wave is going to have a curve not a jaged edge.
That I would say is the first problem. Let me think about
it and maybe I can come up with another sugestion. Anyone else?

You should upgrade to that
WF3.0 stuff it is so much faster.

To make a tire i would use a toroidal bend.

Just make a "log" with all your features on top. This simplifies any equations or patterning such that it only needs to follow your "log".

Duuhhhhh....huh?? You sound like you know what your doing, but I don't.

I appreciate the help, but can you break it down for me a little? Feel free to talk down to me as much as you want: the more basic the better!
