assembly constraints

Create datums planes thru your axes, then you can use them to orient your pipes with offset constraints.
You could also work with coordinate systems to constrain your part.
Not as easy as you described but a work-around.

thank u ankarl

But if i constraint the base plate by creating the datum planes through axis as suggested by u , the plate will not be able to rotate about the axis.

i will try csys option.

Ifyou want to create rotatingjoin between Axes of revolutionand planes or surface, first thingyou must create axis on (or through) the plate and then create pin connection.

Steb by step:

1) Create solid (pipe) and thencreateaxis on this solid. For example: If you are creatingsolid with "revolve" function in Proe, so this solid already have a axis.If you are creating pipe with other function in Proe (blend, sweep, swept blend), you must create axis additionally.

2) Create plate.

3)Create axisinto this solid (plate). As you can see on the picture. Axis was created between the planes (RIGHT-TOP).

After creating the axis on the plate, align that with axis2 then mate face1 with piont 0 or a planar surface on the pipe, the select two perpendicular planes or surfaces and it will give you the rotational orientation of you preference.

Dear arroyopr

here theface is to maintain at some distance from the axis 2. So creating axis on the plate and aligning it with axis 2 will not work.

Can't we make axis offset from face 1 ???????????????????????

you always can insert offset datums at the distance require then insert an axis, and mate ur pipe to the datum. I just don't know wich direction "X,Y,Z," the pipe is offset.

and finally i have come up with a solution-------------------

To constraint the base plate do the following:

1.Make a datum plane (dtm1) offset from face 2 (equal to distance of axis2 to be kept from face 2).

2.make a datum plane(dtm 2) offset from face 1(equal to distance of axis2 to be kept from face 1.

3.now make axis3 through dtm1 & dtm2

4.make a datum(2) point on that axis(3) n give it distance from face3 (equal to distance ofpipe point to be kept from face3)

5.align axis3 with axis2 (so that plate can rotate about pipe axis) .set selection filter to point ,pick point(on pipe) & point2 & apply coincident mate.

6.Now the only thing left is to restrict the rotation of plate about pipe axis(2).Make a datum plane dtm3 through axis1 & 2.

in assy mode select automatic----->dtm3,face1. Pro-e will ask for orientation angle.Specify the angle(in my case it was 90')

-----------and all is done.

thanks to all who helped me solve this problem .special thanks to arroyopr

if anyone has even a better idea, he is welcome.

k bi ,have a nice time
