Assembly feature at part level?

I've got a 2 partassemblywith an assembly cut that runs through both parts. How can I "push" that assembly cut down to the part level? I searched this forum with no luck. SW2008 SP3.1 TIA.

I know only one metod to do that:

Delete the assembly cut but not delete the sketch. Make this sketch visible. Note that this sketch live in a plan (Pa). Start to edit the part in assy. Use, of course,EXTRUDE CUT feature. Use the same plane Pa(or a parallel one) to define the sketch for extrude cut feature. Link the new sketch, usingsketch relations, with the old one (from the assy). I do not know if ispossible to use DERIVED SKETCH and now I can't verify because I am not at my computer. You can try.

Make your cut. Exit from EDIT PART.

Repeate this steps for all the parts you need.

Now, if you change the assy's sketch, after rebuild, the cut in the part(s) is (are) updated.

From now you can hide the assy sketch.

I use SW 2007. Maby in the newer version yor question has an easy answer.

Good luck !
