Assembly model

users4

New member
Hi all,

I have two models created in ProE and now I want to assemble the two to complete my entire modeling. I am a brand new user and do not have much experiencewith ProE. Hence I do not fully understand the usage of the mate, align etc commands. Can someone please tell me how to make my assembly?

I have attached my 2 part files and also a picture of the final model that I expect to create.Thepart called trial.prt has to fit around the model_temp.prtpart.

I have sent the trial.prt file in the next message.2006-05-01_185424_ProE.zip

Thanks a lot.

Hi users4,

Welcome to the forum, I think I may be able to point you in the right direction. I think the main reason you have struggled is because both of your parts have been created with different Unit settings, which basically means you have created both the parts using different sizes. You can check this yourself using the following :

With the part open, go to EDIT / SETUP / UNITS. You will see which unit style you have used to create the part, obviously both parts will have to be created the same.

Now, from there you will probably figure out the assembly yourself, I have done it for you and attached the assy, assembled just using datum planes. To keep file size down I have suppressed some feature, to get them back go to EDIT / RESUME / ALL. 2006-05-02_052001_users.asm.zip

Hope that helps. An interesting and complicated model hehe, keep practising mate you`ll get there in the end, I started using pro-e about 4 months ago and I am just starting to feel more confident, its quite a learning curve but there are plenty of people willing to give a helping hand on these forums

Just to clarify, you will have to resume / all with the part file open and not the assy file. Also, I forgot to mention that you can also change each parts Units to whatever you need, just incase you thought you would have to draw it again

Hi Skint,

Thnaks a lot for the reply and all the help. What you have done is exactly what I want, but the frame mode (model_temp.prt)l appears longer than what itactually. Is this due to the Units mismatch?

Also, I want the bevel edge (the edges with the somewhat elliptical shape)of the two files to be coincident (one should be exactly on top of the other) i.e the outer (bigger)bevel of themodel.prt file shouldbe coincident with the bevel edge of the trial.prt file. Also, the circular bases of the two should alsomatch.

If it's not a problem, can youexplain step- by- step how exactly you did this thing. I tried learning how to assemble from a Pro/E book, but only got confused.

Thanks, a ton.

Hi Skint,

One more thing- I want the leaflet (trial.prt file) to surround the frame (model.prt file) from the outside, and not enclosed within it as you have shown. I think then the edge mismatch problem will be solved.

Also, pleaseexplain tome the steps that you followed in doing this entire thing.

Hi Skint,

Could you alsosend methe model treeof the assembly that yu have created for me along with the explanation of what and how youdidit? This would help me learn the thing and try it out for myself.

Thnaks, a lot.

Hi,

I tried again to assemble my model, but all I cold manage until now is get one part sitting on top of the other. What I want now is topull the part sitting on top down such that its base is coincident with the base of the other model (which is sitting below right now). Also, the elliptical edges of the two should be coincident.

In the final model, the part currently sitting on top is wrapped around (from the outside) the frame part (the bottom model). I tried using the MATE command multiple times, but was unsuccessful.

I have attached my assembly file.

My other question is whether this is happening due to mismatch in units, or some modeling error?

Thanks,
