First thing, your "config.pro" file must be in the startup directory. In this file, set the drawing_setup_file option to point to your default drawing setup file. (Example: "C:\myplot.dtl"). After you open your drawing and make whatever changes you need, select Save as, and svae it in the above folder with that name.
However, when you save a drawing, the changes made to it's "setup file" should stay with that drawing.
