Bicycle Sprocket Analysis

Hello,

I was wondering if anybody know how to apply the constraints and forces to do analysis on a bicycle sprocket? I am new to this.

You need to take a Mechanica course. The fundamentals of FEA are beyond the scope of explaining to someone completely new to the concept with a few lines of text in a forum like this. Are you familiar with what rigid body motion is and why constraining your model correctly is so important? You shouldbe if you are to have any understanding about the basics of FEA and achieving realistic results.

There seem to be more and more questions from people who clearly have not been on a course or even read a book on the subject, (e.g. the Toogood books available from SDC), or looked on the help files, or phoned up PTC Support (I wonder why), or if they are a student asked their tutor.

It's just too easy to fire off a question into the ether and ask someone else to do the work, rather than investing time and thought oneself. Perhaps people should have to sign to say that they have done some kind of training before theyare allowed toask a question.

And I hope I never buy a product that has been stressed out by some of these people

Rant from an old fart over!
