Hey every one,<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

I have an assy with some heatshrink, I need one piece to be strait and another to be curved, so i created2 different models, and put them in an assembly.

In pro/intralink the part namesare different(part_names heatshrink-1.prt and heatshrink-2.prt) but the par numbers are the same(part_no 7856K16). this way on the drawing bom it shows a qty of 2.

nowI want to put a "smart" balloon on each component, but it wont let me,I doesn

Well that just plane sucks. I hope they fix that in 3.0.

thanks though brian.

I copyed and posted from the link if you dont have a log on.

Unable to Show BOM Balloons For Different Models Reported With the Same Index Number

Additional Information
<DIV ="indent10">

Description
-----------------
A user defined parameter is reported in a repeat region, such as "&asm.mbr.part_num". If the #Attributes of the region is set to #No Duplicates and there are 2 different models with the same value for the parameter "part_num", then the 2 models will appear in one row, with one index number, with a quantity of "2". For example, if "a.prt" and "b.prt" have "part_num" parameters equal to "123", the region will report the following:

INDEX PART_NUM QTY
--------------------------------
1 123 2

even though these ARE 2 SEPERATE MODELS (this applies for Family Table instances as well).

In this case, BOM BALLOONS cannot be shown, since these are 2 seperate models shown as one index number. Pro/ENGINEER does not know where to attach the balloon. This is correct functionality.

Alternate Technique
-----------------
See Resolution below.

Resolution
-----------------
This is correct behavior. It is never possible to show a BOM Balloon if 2 different models are reported with 1 index number. There are 2 ways to have BOM Balloons in this caseL

1. Set the #Attributes of the repeat region to #No Dup/Level. This will assign a different index number to each item and give them both a quantity of '1'. BOM Balloons can now be shown for each item.

2. If it is desired to have both items show on the same index with a quantity of '2', then the BOM Balloons must created manually using #Create, #Balloon.</DIV>
