can not see drawing geometry

I'm sure that this is a newbie question but here it goes. I created my solid model and need to create a detail drawing for it. I click new>drawing. I am prompted for the name and then what size format I want. For some reason, I see the datum planes and datum points, but there is no geometry visible. Is there a simple setting that turns on/off this feature?

how do you expect a geometry, if you reated a new assembly file. Is this questin an other way around.Did you import a solid model and it didn't show up?

i was trying to create the drawing from the solid model (part). I cannot see the lines that represent the part on the drawing. where do I change the colors of the lines (geometry and dimension lines? it seems that the views are there but I cannot see them on a black background.
