Wanting to create a roller chain riding over sprockets which I can animate in mechanism/animation, didn't find anything useful with a search. Any ideas on how this can be done?
download the chain mechanism from the Files section of this forum using fil sorter. xcad has done it and by redefining the chain mechanism you will know the tchnique on hoe to do it.
puppet,
Don't worry, I have solved your problem. I will send it soon to you.
I did find the chain model, I ran it and noticed it only revolves a short distance before stopping, so I changed the magnitude on the servo motor to constant hoping to get the chain to revolve a full revolution, but it also failed. Any thoughts on how to make a full revolution with this model? Is it having problems when it gets to the end of the curve segment?
And thoughts on how to fudge it so it looks like it is revolving in an animation?
If possible I would prefer to have the sprocket drive the chain since I've already created the correct gear ratio on the sprocket and it is already being driven by another gear. Is this an easier way or is there an easier way to have the link travel around the entire datum curve?
did you arrive at a solution that worked for you? I have found your posts because I have a similar problem/task, but from the posts I don't see a solution for getting the chain to move a full revolutoin.
