Change units in several parts thru assy

I'm working with an assembly that is imported from UG. The units are set to meter and I need to change all the parts to inch. Is there a way thru the assembly or a fast way to change it in every part instead of each part one at a time. Thanks for your help.

Hi!!

I am facing the same problem with my assembly imported in .sat format. I want to convert units of about 300 parts from inches to mm. Any efficient way?

Regards

Hi,

EDG1662/Yasir.You have the option to change the unit of the model while importing from shared data.i.e in import options when you click on insert<shared data

Here's something to try if you have a license of Mechanica...

Mechanica requires that all components in an assembly be in the same set of units. When you go to Applications > Mechanica and your parts are in different sets of units, you will be prompted to select the set of units you want to convert all parts to. Choose IPS, and the software will convert all your parts to it. As soon as you get into Mechanica, choose Applications > Standard to return to assembly mode.

Jabbadeus,

I think this worked even if you don't have a licence of Mechanica. The mechanica licence doesn't get invoked until you select 'structure' or 'thermal'. The units conversion takes place before this.

Also a word of warning: if you have family table parts and/or simp. reps. in your assembly the unit conversion in Mechanica gets stuck at the first one it finds. If you have family table members, ensure that the generic is converted before trying the Mechanica trick.
