Like many of you I have spent years cleaning up Pro-e items. The eternal quest to eliminate such things as Circular Refs and Ghost Objects. Now the bean counters ask me: Why spend the time doing all that extra work? We can still release the parts so why can
yes - You can still manipulate assemblies within ghost object
yes- they do work well for some time even with circular ref inside.
However the question is - Can You afford to go to the job with 4 days unchanged stinky clothes? `Couse You still can reach your place, still can do Your job well(maybe), but if You are more than focused only on yourself think about relations with others
well that si the rough comparison but think about that like a hidding pizza under the carpet - somebody is going to clean it up in the future, maybe You, maybe another mug, but it is certain it happens
We used the justification as "Time in the Future" to change the drawings. We found that we could take an ECN from just under 8 hours (because the files were nasty, bad external refs etc) to an average of under 2 hours. When you take the engineering rate and the number of ECN's makes sense really fast. It is really nice when someone can open the drawing and simply modify it and it does not go haywire and than they need to spend time fixing them.
