Collision checks in ProE Assemblies

Can anyone tell me if there is something simple that can be used for checking for collision checks of parts in an assembly ?

I mean something very simple, not a motion collision check just something that can be run on the .asm to highlight simple part interferences / collisions ?

Suppose since WF 3.0 and up, there is an option in assembly mode under tools menu to push Pro/E to stop animation while draging parts by the use of "hand".

All is valid if You set connections right!

"not a motion collision" , do you mean a intereference check??? if so..in asm mode , its under analysis - modell - global interference.

you can use Analysis > Model > Global Interference. However i think it is not a standard application

First I feel we need to clarify what is a subject of this post:

a)check of collision? - moving parts

b)check of interferance? - assembled position

My hint is regarding a)

It's for a simple Check of interference. Assembled position. A global check of non moving parts in there assembled positions.

OK, this is what I have tried....

I have set "Collision Detection Settings" to look for "Global Collision Detection"

I have then run "Analysis>Model>Global Interference"

It then goes off doing a calculation and when finishes reports back its completed the check, then the next line in the console window is "Pair 1 of 1518 Parts PARTA and PARTB" Thats all the information that appears in the console window upon completion :(

Where does it store the analysis results. Once finished I cannot see any way to view the data - was rather hoping it would do something like hilight the areas/parts that collide as it run the check ! ?

Does it create a file somewhere that can be viewed ?

Thanks for your help to date

if you run a "global interference check" , iow, just go "global interference" and press on the "small glasses" at the bottom of the dialogbox, then you get a list of interfernce parts. (and you can se "how much they interfere") then just pick on any number in your list and pro/E will higlight were it interferes.....

Well, just worked out how to view the results.....

Change quick to "saved" then it allows u to review results.

Now all I got to work out how to do is get it to ignore screws and fasteners etc ? Any ideasa on that refining requirement

Thanks to date

Suppress/Exclude by Simp rep all unneeded components for analisys

this is the first step
my trick is to avoid global interferance check, unless You assembly contains only couple of parts

For really big assemblies Global check is a waste of time

instead I prefere Volume Interferance which narrows the check to the intended part(Pro/E checks all interferances regarding intended part)

Thankyou all for your help to date.

I have not been able to get the "Volume Interference" to work as it does not seem to allow me to select any parts / sub assemblies to run the check ! It only allows me to select "Quilts" of which there are none to select.......... Any ideas what i am doing wrong here ?
