Color (parts) in sub-assembly

I have trouble with setting color. After i make assembly from let say 3 sub-assembly and i apply material (color) to it it always turn all the sub-assembly in one material (color).

Is it possible to somehowhave an sub-assembly in an assembly and apply diferent colors and materials to its parts?

In the color menu select the "components" option from the Assignments drop down box.

That works in assembly. But if i put a sub-assembly in larger assembly the "components" picks all of thesub-assemblyand not yust a part in it.

If i open sub-assembly individualy then i can edit colors normaly and it works.

But the colors are not copied in the main assembly and the "components" picks all sub-assebmbly like it is apart.

Okay I see what you're talking about. To answer your original question, I haven't been able to get that to work. I have always just opened the subassembly and applied the colorsor applied them to the parts when creating them. Not sure why the colors would not get transfered form the subassembly to the main assembly though. If you want the part to retain the colorapply it at the part level.

The lower level colors will show up in the upper level unless you override them. Try clearing the colors in the upper level and you should be OK.

Yes i changed the color at the lowest level - part too but didn't work.

These is probably the case. I cleared the sub-assembly color in main assembly and the corect colors set from part ans sub-assembly pop-ed out.

Thanx for the tip.
