Constraints in Family Tables

feebletom

New member
Hi, I have two assemblies that are identical except for one part. I am using a family table to turn on/off that part for each configuration. The problem is that I am using the surface of the part as a mating surface. When I turn off the part in one of the configurations I lose the constraint since that surface is no longer there. Can I put constraints in Family Tables? Thank you.

Also, I'm using WF3

I seesome diff.solutions:

1) Do some work-around, and find another mating surface. Maybe make one in the assembly or............. It can be hard/impossible to find an acceptable work-around.

2)Maybe Skeleton or Skeleton-like. Similar to 1)

3) You can make a interchange assembly with the two parts. In this you can describe the "exchange" mating surfaces. Hard to explain. This way you have only one coloumn in the family table instead of two with Y/N and N/Y

4) Make subassembly with family table. Use the mating surfaces in the two parts to mate on a start plane like FRONT(or similar). Use FRONT in your end assembly as mating surface. This way you have also only one coloumn in the family table instead of two with Y/N and N/Y
