copying surfaces

I am copying surfaces using the copy geometry feature. I create a new part in an assembly & copy the surfaces from the parts I need. I select one surface then hit the shift key & select another surface so it selects all the surfaces. When I look at the copy geometry feature in this part it is missing some surfaces. If you do the same thing again then there are other surfaces that are mssing. Does anyone have this problem or know why thisis happening?

The method you describe does not select all surfaces. You are creating a Seed and Boundary set. If you look at it, the second surface that you picked will be the only one not included. You should review the Selection Tutorial shown in the browser window when ProE first opens.

If you want to copy sets of individual surfaces, hold down ctrl key and keep on selecting the required surfaces. If you want to copy all the surfaces, select a surface, right click and select solid surface.

Regards,

Thanks for all the replies.

Basically I want to send a customer a model where they can adjust the different lengths by a datum plane. I don't want them to be able to see the inside of the different parts. I would like to copy all outer surfaces, merge & solidify the model. Does anyone have any other ideas to simplify the process?
