Create a sketch from Adobe Illustrator

Has anyone succesfully imported an ".ai" file from Adobe illustrator? While in Sketch Mode > Data from File, one has access to Adobe Illustrator {*.ai] format.

Whenever I try to access one of these files to my sketch nothing happens?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi there cam721,

I have managed to get some illustrator files into pro-e, sometimes it fails sometimes it works. I was using illustrator 10 and it seemed to work ok, now I use illustrator 11 or CS and have more failures.

The best way to do it... i know its a pain but it works every time, I now export the file from illustrator and save it as an AutoCAD R14 file, pro-e never fails to pick these up.

Hope that helps.

Works every time for me. The trick too if you don't
know illustrator is to bring in the file from Illustrator into the Pro/E
drawing mode. In this way you can scale rotate move the file to the desired
coordinate position. Then export that back out as IGES so you can bring
in the file relative to a specific coordinate system inside the part (not dwg).

The best part of this approach is to utilize separate CSO

Hmm. When I try to import the .ai file all I get is a blank square?

Are you guys referring to Drawing Mode? Should I be using Insert > Shared Data > From File OR Insert > Object?

Sorry, but I'm lost here.

Thanks again for your help~
