Creating a plane at midpoint of edge?

Hi could someone please tell me A Better Way to create a plane at the midpoint of an edge in pro-e 2001?

I have a rectangular depression in a part, and want to mate a label centered within the depression. I can use the default planes in the label (it's symmetric).

The only way I've found so far is Insert datum point->Sketch...create a sketch point where I want the datum point to be...Then create a datum plane thru the point and parallel to a plane.

Is there a better/easier way of doing this?

thanks,
john

create your label in te assembly mode abd the references for the label you should take the rec. depression.

This is sort of TDD abd you no more need creating a plane.

I agree with pmanck, but you have to choose point on curve.

Click datum point>on curve>length ratio then select the curve (edge) done sel enter in .5 and there you go.

Thanks guys.

I went the pmack route.

As a rule, I hate in-context features within a part. Too many chances for things to get messed up later on without you realizing it.

thx,
john
