Any help you could offer me I would greatly apprecuiate it, im trying to create a coil ,i have the outside diameter and i have length of pipe i need to work with. Or if you have an equation i could work with , thank you!
can you give us a little more information on exacty what you are trying to achieve? (a picture maybe?)
is it a straight or bent pipe? is there a fixed number of coils over the entire length? or if the length was to change would the number of coils increase?
there is no fixed number of coils. the over all diameter has to be limited to 70mm, i have it sort of done, but unsure as if its correct, il post a jpeg of what iv drawn shortly....(using helical sweep) just was wondering if anyone knew how to properly use th "piping application" which might have it
I'll repost a model later if I can get to it. In a nutshell, this is how I would create it. I would make a cylindrical surface of the ID of the pipe, than creat a curve that shows the length of the wire aligned (or offeset)to both ends of the length of the curve.Wrap this curve on the surface (select curve, edit, wrap). Creat a sweep select trajectory and use the formed curve. Than thicken the surface to make your pipe.
You can make a solid and do the same, just that the surface allows you to see the wrap easier when you create it.
