Creating Flange From Copied Geometry

Hi I was wondering if somebody might be able to help me, this is driving me nuts.

I have a part containing a clip feature which was created using a swept protrusion and all I would like to do is create the same feature on another model, except in sheet metal and using the 'Create a Flange Wall' function.

I thought I'd be able to achieve this by simply going into the swept protrusion on the original model, copying or saving the profile sketch then simply creating the flange on the second model and pasting/importingsketch from file. However this it seems is not the way, as Pro E just simply refuses to comply.

When I try to use a pasted sketch, the feature just doesn't play ball and when I try to open saved sketch within the flange dialog, I get the error message: 'The section doesn't include exactly one Csys'.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

obviously your in the sheetmetal module if you are looking to use the flange tool. You may get more specif help if you post in the sheetmetal part of the forum.

upload your file and lets take a look.

I bet your trying to operate the flange on the wrong surface edge.

Hi thanks for the reply, though I have since been able to get the flanges to work.

This said, I now have another problem, in the way that I cannot seem to create an unbend or flat pattern - just get the message: 'Could not construct feature geometry'. I think it might be something to do with how the the clip sections are constructed but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

You can find my troublesome model here:

I look forward to your thoughts.

I modified the sketched feature by adding tangency to some of the arcs /curves. I also change some of the dimensions to strong. I added a unbend feature to unbend all and it seemed to work. Adding a bend backall also seemed to work putting the part back to its formed state.

Hope you can see where I added the tangency points versus your original sketch.

Thanks for the assist proe3dpro1, I just had to clear up the profile sketch and it worked fine.
