cross section question...

Hi, I am trying to create a cross section that follows the sketched line in the picture below. We have an old hand drawn print of this part which has been modeled into pro-E that has a x-section like the one I sketched, but I can't get Pro-E to do it. It seems to not like the curved line. Is this not possible in pro-E? Thanks

you are not allowed to double back on a cross section cut since pro-e will not know which surface to show in the cross section view. If you can keep the point on the left and the arc below the point going through the center line, then you will be able to make the cross section.

Hope this helps.

Oh ok, that does make sense. Basically we're trying to rotate the angled line about the center of the part so we can show a section between the protrusions. Could this be accomplished by using a full align x-section instead? I'm not familiar with this feature and I haven't been able to get it to work. I can get a full unfold, but not an align. If it can't be done though, it can't be done. We were just trying to match up the new Pro-e drawing with our old hand drawn version. Thanks

If possible, I would try to use a horizontal line instead of an arc. It's hard to say because I can't see the back side of your part, but from this side, it should look how you want it.

I am having the same problem. Tried several different sketches. No luck. You maybe could cheat andcopy/change a second part that looks like the section you want. But thatsan extra part to deal with and may cause more work then what you want.

Try creating a second arc within the part center in the upper quadrant between the vertical line and the angled construction line, create a line from the part center to the end of the new arc on the angled construction line, and trim the portion of the vertical line the is in the center of the part. See if that will allow you to make a Full(aligned) section view. You may need to recreate view.

Can you postthe file in iges or step format? I don't have access to the commercial version of WF4 so someone else may have to help out. For the part in the original picture I created a similar part and created the X-section. Here is what I ended up with.
