Cross section wont show

HARMAN

New member
I have assembly with various sections through it which all work in the model space but I can't get any of them to translate on to the drawing. I can select them in the view properties but the view still shows as unsectioned.

IfI float the mouse around over the view the hatching highlights and i can pick it as if the secion is there, but it isn't shown.

I don't think i have done anything different than normal. Using wf3.

Anyone, thanks.

If the section shows as selectable in the sections area of the properties dialog and you can see the hatch when you place the cursor over a view try flipping the direction of the section.

I've done that and now the hatching does show all the (rather than just when i float over it) time but still no sectioning.

Most section problems occur when the cutting plane is coplanar or tangent to some geometry. Try moving the cross section plane slightly of try an offset cross section that can jog around problem geometry.

I've tried that from looking in other threads but it doesn't seem to work either.

I can get a 3d cross section to work from a zone, which I can use in this instance. But it doesn't solve the problem.

I'm thinking there must be a problem with one of the files in theassembly as I've tried the same on other assemblies and been successful.

Check the actual assembly. Go to the assembly and check if you see the cross section. It could be one of the following problems.

1)The accuracy value of the parts.
2)Interferences between parts.

1)When there is small parts and big parts in the assembly and the accuracies are set to relative, it could create some problems creating the x-section.
2)Interferences between parts SOMETIME(not always) causes this to happen. To fill the section area of a part with lines, the software needs to be able to create a boundary for that surface. If there is interferences, the boundaries will overlap and SOMETIMES give problems with the x-section.

a quick to try and discover the problem part/sub asm, is to drag the INSERT_HERE in the model tree up. Say to about 50% from top. Check if x-section works. If it doesn't, drag it up more and try again. If it works, drag the INSERT_HERE down and repeat until you get to the problem part/assy.
