Cutting Tool Design

Cuzzie

New member
I've been given a task by my thesis supervisor.

Basically he wants me to model a 6-fluted end mill and radius the tips to the same radius of the end mill. Let's say this radius is 10mm.

I have absolutely NO idea how to go about this. I've been playing around with helical sweeps but cutting edge cross section of the end mill is quite complex.

Can anyone PLEASE help me or point me in the direction of end mill Pro/E files?

This is rather urgent. Shot guys.

Unfortunately no. That's why I reckon if I had drawings of it or the cutting edge profile I could use it when doing a helical sweep.

This is an Engineering problem rather than modeling it.

You may refer to some good books on the same.

Cutting tool design : Arshinov (erstwhile MIR publishers)

Theory of metal cutting and cutting tool design: Dr. Amitab Battacharya (available in India)

Machine tool design handbook: HMT (India)

Tool Design: Donaldson

and so on......perhaps you may come accross something....

THESIS IS A LOT OF HARD WORK, PERSPIRATION AND DESPERATION
