Datum Callout Within Notes

Hello, I'm trying to put a bounding box around a datum letter inside of a note. The note itself is from within an assembly and is referenced in the drawing via &notename. The problem is that if I use @[ datumname @] within the note to create a box around the datum name, it doesn't work inside the note...just ignores the [] symbols. If I manually create a note within the drawing, it works but not if I reference a note from within a part or assembly. I've also tried &dtm_notename and the name shows up but no box. Is there config.pro or drawing setup option that I'm missing? Thanks for any help.

I don't think you will be able to do this in a 3D (in model) note. I wanted to do the same thing with a symbol (surface finish) and was told by PTC that it can't be done in the model. I have filed an enhancement request, but I doubt it will go anywhere unless a lot more people start asking for this kind of functionality.

Why a note in the model does not use the same tech as a note in the drawing in the first place is a good question.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you want to do you should be able to put a box around the datum plane name. Here is a picture of a note using the datum name and another using a parameter.

Got swamped at work last week. I tried to recreate the problem I'm experiencing with snapshots but it worked fine.

In model: setup-->notes-->New/Edit--> enter a note with the @[ @] symbols around a datum.
In drawing: create a new note and reference the model note via &notename.

Turns out that the problem I was experiencing only arises when using an existing note (company provided start part) and a note embedded in the drawing format. If I create a new note in the model and a new note in the drawing it works great. At least there is a way around the problem until I figure what's wrong or what I'm doing wrong.

Still trying to find a way to reference a part datum from within an assembly drawing note. Create a new note within a drawing and reference an assembly model note (&general_note). The assembly model note needs to reference a sub-component's datum. But &dtm_datumname only seems to work for parent-level datums or part level datums in part drawings. Tried tacking the session ID at the end but that didn't work i.e. &dtm_A:21 where A is the name of the sub-component datum and 21 is the session ID. If I'm not making any sense I'll post some pictures.
