Datum curve using surface intersection

Can anyone give me step-by-step instructions on how to use 2 intersecting surfaces to create a datum curve at their joint?

Thanks,

Aaron

In Wildfire 2.0 select the two intersecting surfacing with the help ofCTRL key then Edit and Intersect command.

The logic is same in Proe 2001.

jeff4136,

I could not see your reply, otherwise I would not have replied then.

May be the two replies have come simultaneously.

Thanks for the replies, guys. What I'm doing is trying to create a 3D datum curve that follows a path very similar to that of the end of a safety pin (straight-ish section leading into a single helix, then exiting somewhat perpindicular to the leading section). I don't know how to model the whole thing at once, so i'm doing it in sections (i.e. the leading section, then half of the helix, then the other half, and so on). Is this a good way to do it? Can you give me any suggestions?

Thanks again,

Aaron

Hi, Israr. No problem at all.

Aaron, I ~believe~ I'd try wrapping a curve on a cylinderical surface to get the "turn plus" helical portion. You should be able to set up the planar curve so you get a smooth transition into your straight segements. (At least I think it should be do-able and fairly efficient. What version Pro/E you using? If it's WF2 I can give it a whirl and post.)
