DATUM CURVES

I have a cylindrical feature created in sheetmetal (wf 2.0). I then make a shtmtl cut in the flat pattern (triangular cut) to create a tapered cylinder. My question is, how to create a datum curve/trajectory for a square section to follow this edge. In the formed instance this reference surface is not planer .

Use projected datum curves? Or use formed datum curves if the surface is developable - which in the case of a sheetmetal cylinder it should be. It's not all that clear what you're trying to do. How would a cut in the flat pattern give you a 'truncated cone' when you redeveloped it? Why not create your tapered cylinder first, convert to sheetmetal, rip and then unbend it? That's the way I would do it.
