Datum display for active & skeleton part

Is there a way to set-up layers up so that only the datum features
for the active part and the skeleton part are shown?

I am using Wildfire 2.0

If nobody has any idea on how I can set-up the layers automatically as
described above, can someone give me some advice on an efficient layer
management technique?
