i need to the very basic differnce between intralink 3.3 , intralink 8.0 and windchill. can anyone help me out regd this??

thanks in advance

im not a ptc rep but windchill is available in 3 different user levels (something like light medium & heavy) heavy is for the pro-e users light for other office people to look at files or add documents into the system 3 dif prices too - windchill has a lot more options also we looked into because it has a medical system in it (meaning when we have an FDA audit (DHF - DMR) it is much easier for them to see what they want and get the hell out of our building)

intralink 8 can import and keep revision on almost any document be it any cad or text document

INTRALINK 8 is now a Windchill product, just consider a "light" version of it.

INTRALINK is for CADD Datamanagement. All other Windchill products are for the enterprise solutions. If you are lookin for CADD management only, INTRALINK 8 is what you want, but I would suggest waiting for the next release when they get some of the lost functionality from 3.4 back in.

But if you looking for something more then CADD management, such that the entire company can use (ECN system for example) then I would suggest PDMLink or the full Windchill version.

We're still at 3.4 and I've been wondering when we should go up to 8.0 By "next release", do you mean the next build of 8.0, or the next version of Intralink beyond 8.0? Any idea when that'll be?

I am referring to the next release, which will mostly be called INTRALINK 9. I was told sometime in 2007, probally around the time that Wildfire 4 comes out.

It really all depends on how you use INTRALINK 3.4 now. If you do not use the Frame Manager, Duplicate (with update parents), and there are a few other things missing, then maybe INTRALINK 8 is for you. Me personally, I can not go without the missing functionality, my users would kill me......

Is there going to be another Intralink release? Our dealer just told my boss that Intralink support would be gone in 18 months, and that we need toswitch to Windchill. Or was that just a slick salesman?

INTRALINK 8 (and beyond) is now a WindChill product. The only thing similar to old INTRALINK is the name.....
