dimensioning in scale

If you create a part in real size and you create a drawing of it at 1/96 scale how do you get the dimensionsto show up at the reduced scale. That is 240 real inches at 1/96 scale would measure 2.5 inches.

If you're asking for the dimension to show 2.5 inches, it is handled automatically by SW (depending on how you've set the sheet scale). If you want the dimension text size to be larger, you'll need to change the font size for dimension text.

I must not have the Sheet scale set correctly. When I add my part to the drawing I set the custom scale to be 1/96. Part merges in at the correct scale. But if I use SmartDimension and try and add a dimension it dimensions at the full scale. What am I doing wrong?

Put a Scale Feature in your part to shrink it down by a factor of 1/96 and then set the Sheet Scale to 1:1. The size of the part will be reduced by the scale factor 1/96. Smart dimensions will show the reduced size but the Model Items dimensions for sketches will show the original size values.

Give that a try.

Another way that might work would be to use Convert Entities or Export a DXF and scale it down.

Are you working on a model for a Special Effects shot or Replica by any chance?

Thanks! That did the trick.I am making model plans for a Forrestal class navy carrier circa 1959. I was modeling a 5 inch gun. I had found a diagram online with full size dimensions so I modeled the gun in full size. But my model will end up being 1/350. I used 1/96 as an example scale.
