Drawing Detail Question

I have attached a file containing a very simple part. It is a cube with a few cuts slot cuts. I have been having a disagreement with my boss over how this type of feature is to be detailed out on a drawing. I just wanted to get some input on different ways other people would detail out this type of feature. what I am looking for is a example drawing that showsa dimensionsing skeem. Thanks in advancefor everybodys help.

F.Y.I we are still using wildfire 1.

Show the dimesniosn so a machinist can fabricate the part.

Dimension the flat bottom slot from one side of the cube, with width and depth of the slot. Dimension the second slot showing angle to cube side and edge distance from a side at the edge with width and depth as needed.

That's how I created the drawing that my boss is having an issue with. Let me put create a drawing for this part and show you how I would do it.

Just a thought. Looking at the part and how it is dimentioned makes perfect sense to me. But when I first looked at the part, I saw a bowtie feature on top that could be dimentioned to a certain depth and the the v slot at an angle below this. I don't see anything wrong with your drawing. I wonder if he see the same feature I did and he is confused...?

Looks good to me. Only question is why the different tolerance value on the 4.000 depth dimension?

It was just an example something I threw together quick. It was really just to show the skeem.

If any body else has any ideas how to place the views differently that whould help out alot.

My boss was so mad that his face was red and he keptsaying that I needed to dimension the feature. He could not explane to me what he wanted to see.

I'll take as much input as people are willing to give.

Thanks,

I looked at your drawing and I set the display style to no hidden and tangent edge display style to none on all the views. This change clarified the views and thedimensioning scheme looks good to me. I have had many conversations with my manager in the past over dimensioning schemes and notes on detail drawings.

I guess what really makes me mad is that I have been creating drawings for over 8 years now and never had any complaints.I work for a nice size company and there are about 9 different designers and we all do everything the same. So I guess according to him we all dont have a clue.

Ok I think I'm done venting.

Just looking for other ideas.

Thanks everybody.
