Drawing files to Sketches

Dear Friends,

Anybody knows is it possible to convert the .dwg or .dxf files made in autocad to sketch files in pro-E. It will be helpful in creating certain special geometries. Please reply if you know.

Regards,

Krishnadev

You can open the AutoCAD files and save them as pro-e .drw files. Then when in sketcher, select Insert Data from file. Should do the trick ?

You can bring them in as .dwg directly into sketcher, but the .dwg has to be AutoCad 2000 or earlier. Otherwise (at least in WF2) it won't recognize it. But like Skint said, go to sketch, data from file, and set your type to .dwg (to remove unwanted file types). Unfortunately, sometimes you'll have to close out pro/e to see the file you've just created (50-50 shot).

Import the data as a curvein your model and then use the geometry to create your model. When done put curves on a layer to hide it.

Thank you very much Skint, Straupma and Tommypurple2 for your suggestions !!!
