Drawing probs - add param and limits

Just today my pro/e started giving me this problem: I create my model then I go to create a new drawing for the part. When I do this, Pro/E wants me to enter every parameter for thetitle blockbefore it will allow me to create my different views. Another issue is that when I insert dimensions, I can specify their tolerances but I cannot have them shown as limits, nor as anything other than nominal.. the tolerance mode is not an option.

Previously, I would choose to create a new drawing and I would be able to create views in my format without having to fill in parameter values for all of the parameters in my format. Also, when I created a dimension I would be able to have it shown as +- or limits or however I wanted it shown. Please help me I am under the gun with my project. Thanks!

Are you using a PDM system with Pro/E?

Is this a new format or has someone modified the default format?

Were you using templates before and now using a format?

When I set up formats for use with a PDM system (PDMLink), the part/assy MUST be checked-in before creating the drawing, as I am gatherformat information from the system, which doesn't exist in the Pro/E file prior to a check-in.

The tolerance display issue MUST be addressed from the .dtl file side, which is assigned to a format. The setting tol_display needs to be set yes in order to have the option to chage the tolerance type. Tol_display is also a config.pro setting but even when set to yes, the .dtl setting still must also be yes.

What is a PDM system?

Here is my situation: I am working for a company, I am using a floating license to work from home. To use it I must be dialed in to their VPN.

I have always used a format provided by the company. I can still open up old parts and create new drawings for them and everything is good (no entering title block values and I can choose between tolerance modes). But if I create a new part and try to create a drawing for it, then I have the described problems.

Also getting this error when using intralink to connect to workspace 'Cannot connect to PTC Name Service. Please ensure that it has been started.' Maybe this is part of my problem?

Intralink IS a PDM system. So is Windchill/PDMLink.

Yes that could be your problem because the formats require data from the PDM system. That error is either tied to an old version/build of Intralink clientOR a reboot will start it.
