I'm trying to use an existing drawing as a template for a new drawing but I can't get the new drawing to use a new model instead of the original in the drawing views. What am I doing wrong?
What do you expect to accomplish out of this? Unless these two parts are family tabled or maybe an interchange component you will not be able to keep notes and dims attached to the original model. If it's that you want to reuse the format, general notes and/or parts list, then this is easy. Either way, you will havedelete the model from the drawing and add the new one, then place your views, unless it's family tabled as stated above.
I too am having this problem. I have two identical assemblies w/ the exception that one part is mated to the opposite side. I would like to copy the drawing so that as much as possible transfers over and is reusable. From what I've seen in Pro/E, that might not be much, but I figure it has to help. Is there a way to copy the drawing and replace the model w/ the other one?
