Drawings for tubing models

I need to produce drawings of a tubular frame structure so that the drawings can be used to bend and cut each individual tubing piece. A number of the pieces were swept along datum curves that were created with a Curve through point method and there for don't have a single datum plane with which to orient a drawing view. Would it be simpler to go into the model and put planes in to help with making the drawings or is there an easier way to do this? what would you do?

I made a video for that on youtube. search 'tubular frame structures' on youtube.comAnd make some comments for me on there. it is a bicycle frame but in my standard surfacing week long intensive we do a motoguzi motorcycle frame and the bike frame. Both in an hour and uses top down design.you got any questions pm me or call me on my cell. Its listed on my profile.
 
one solution could be showing the part in three ortho views and providing a table showing x.y and z values and bend radiusto define each bend'spoint. this can be done relative to provious point or with absolute coordinates. the start point and outer to outer dimensions and some salient dimensions can be shown on the drawing ortho views. this method is employed when using CNC bending machines.


Ihave seen some of my friends creating drawings for tubes of refrigeration and air conditioning projects.

please don't misunderstand me. Your Video showing the bike frame is very interesting, but not actually the way I would do such a assembly under real conditions: It seems that you created it as a part and not as a assembly.

Since you have been teaching Cannondale (.. and probably other bike makers) I am very interested if your mantioned teachingcourse is more practical.

I am working on bke frame designs myself also (both hardtail frames as well as suspension frames ... which are of course more complicated). My frames are based on a "skeletton", but not a TDD-skeletton, but just a simple part (WF4).

The biggest disadvantage on my models is a time loss, whenever I am exchanging the dropouts or a tube respectively a tube assembly including the cable guides, water bottle bores and so on.

So here is my question: Do you teach the strategy behind such a structure also, or is your surfacing course (or any other) not including that?
