Driving assy components with Design Table

max@mml

New member
Hi guys,

Im trying to drive my assembly using a design table.

I am also using a design table in my component parts to drive lengths.

PRT1 = 100MM

PRT2 = 200MM

I have acheived this succesfully on the individual part.

However, I cant find a way in the assembly for the design table to replace prt1 with prt2 for the 200mm variant.

In proe I can do this in seconds with family tables and instances, Im finding soliworks a real pain to do this :s

Any help appreciated.

max,

It's been a while since I've done this. I use ProE in work and SolidWorks at home so I can't tell you the exact string to type in right now but it's something like $configuration@<instance name>. This will go in the design table.

The instance name has to be exact or it wont work. I should be home later so I'll post another reply.

If you want, send me an e-mail to [email protected] and I'll send you an example. Hope I've understood your query right.

MNMcAllister,

I sent an example to Max on Saturday. If you want the same example, e-mail me.

I wasn't entirely right in my last post, it should be:

$CONFIGURATION@PartName<InstanceNumber>
