Dumb Space Model

Hi All

We are looking at work at creating dumb space models from our Pro/e models, so that customers can use these in their own assemblies.

I see on this site that there is a 3D Models page, and the models on that page are pretty much the same format in which we want to create for our customers.

I know you can create space envelopes of moving parts but is there a way/program of creating solid parts of our catalogue parts in different formats? (STEP, SAT, STL, IGES etc)

Thanks all

Phil

Phil,

If I understand correctly you have 3d parts in Pro-E and need STEP, SAT, STL, IGES etc?

If that's it simply go to file-save a copy-then choose either STEP, SAT, STL, IGES etc.

and that's it.

your right on thinking we have the 3D files in pro/e and we can export without any porblem but that leaves all the internal dimensions open to interrogation which is something we dont want.

What we want to do is to export but make the part completely solid with no voids inside. Is there a way to do this? or is there a program out there that can do this?

Cheers

Phil

You could use shrinkwrap with the hole filling feature. Depends onthe complexity of the model. Shrinkwrappingwill also give you the option of making your assembly a merged solid so whoever gets this file will place your assembly in their assembly as a single part.

or

Add features to your models to fill in the holes and then save as ..... We thend to do this with some of our assemblies

just a thought-

>create a shrinkwrap of the model as a new part in the assembly
>save the shrinkwrap part as an IGES-STEP-STL-SAT

viola...
