Edit>Replace in Sketcher

2ms1

New member
Shown below isthe sketch forcross sectionsof a swept blend. The two are identical but only one is currently being used in the sweep.

I want to use thenew one (the one on the right) instead of the other one which is currently active in the sweep. However, there are a bunch of dimensions and relations associated with the one currently being used.

Thus, I am attempting to use Edit>Replace. However, this isn't working and I'm trying to figure out why.

Here's what I'm doing: I hold the Control key, click all six of the pieces that make up the new cross section, then do Edit>Replace, but immediate get error msg: "Incorrect choice, must pick new entity."

What am I doing wrong?

As stated, you can only do one at a time.

There are 2 different replace functions, one for dims and one for entities. They use the same command (edit -> replace) but the select order is the opposite. Why? I betteh guys responsible for each function weren't allowed to talk to each other.

For dims:
<BLOCKQUOTE dir=ltr style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px">

edit -> replace - old dim -> create new dim</BLOCKQUOTE>

For entities:
<BLOCKQUOTE dir=ltr style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px">

edit -> replace -> new entity -> old entity</BLOCKQUOTE>

To replace your whole sketch, one entity and dim at a time, is going to take some planning, but you should be able to do it. Is start with the dims first and do the entities second as Pro|E is going to try to delete your dims when you replace entities.
