Exporting model orientation

Is there a way to export the orientation of one model to another? I don't see a way. Orientation can be saved in a model, so why would it be so hard to save it for other models?

Depending upon what software you are importing too.... such as Alias or Maya. I can manage how the orientation comes in using the alternate tool.
