failure diagnostics *resolved*

Normally when an item would fail during regeneration. you get a resolution pop up window that allows you to undo, suppress, resolve, etc. Lately though, the part in the assembly that has the problem will open in a new window. A failure diagnostics box will open as well. In the part window, the feature with the failure will have a small box with an X in it.

I for some reason, can not get any further. I can't seem to edit the sketch, or resolve whatever the problem is. Basically I have to restart pro/e without saving the last move that caused the problem, and try to go at it a different way. The Big problem, is that failures never travel alone. Sometimes, there are many in a row. Which, creates a HUGE time consuming problem.

What is the method for dealing with the failure diagnostics like this? I've searched, and have been thru the help files, but have not stumbled across the answer.

We are up to date on virus protection, and last nights scan was all good. This problem has been noticed since updating to M030, and still present in M050. I've assumed it was part of a programming change.

your fail window is not the blatant bar across your screen that intimidates everyone? You say it's tiny?

You get the menu to the right of your screen okay then?

that's what I get.

Not exactly tiny. The normal resolve tool bar is much smaller then the new one. You can see the insert arrow on the tree. the draft is what cannot be resolved because a hole referenced by the draft has been removed, and re-created. The problem I'm running in to, is the window that opens, really won't let me fix anything. I can create a new sketch, but cannot fix an old one.

Are you trying to recreate a feature to attach the draft to? If so, can you select Fix Model from the resolve menu? This should allow you to go back and fix the model (add your new feature) by selecting Feature>Insert Mode>Activate and selecting a feature to insert after. After creating the new feature select the insert arrow, right click, cancel. Any features after the arrow should become active again and the system will try to regenerate them. You should should then use Quick Fix>Redefine to select the surfaces you want to draft.

that's the issue. Normally the resolve menu appears, and I can redefine, resolve, etc.

When the failure diagnostics window you see pops up, the resolve window does not appear. I can open the reference viewer window, and find the missing references. In this case, <Missing Ref> id 1189 and 1191. However, I can not delete, remove, replace, redefine. etc etc. I've run into several non common sense answers in Pro/e, and I'm just assuming this is one of them.

When Failure diagnostics happens, there should be an option to fix it, but the Resolve menu does not appear.

I don't expect this will work, but have you tried the config option attach_menumanager to see if the menu will show?

What you have shown is the same resolve info box that's appeared in the 12 years I've worked on Pro|E, back to release 16. You should, as you indicated, have a smaller menu manager box to the right.

Are you running Pro|E full screen? Is it possible that the menu manager is under the main Pro|E window? try narrowing the main Pro|E window or try right clicking on the main window frame at the top and selecting "lower". That will 'push' the window down a level and show you what's underneath. You might have to do that several times to get to any buried menus or dialog boxes.

You should also be able to use alt-tab to toggle through the windows and highlight the menu manager to force it to the surface.

that did it! I tried looking for resolve, resolution etc. in the config options, and didn't find anything.

THANK YOU!

I had looked for the menu manager, several different ways. It just wasn't appearing. As mentioned, this only appeared after updating from WF4 M010 to M030, so I'm going to assume there was a small coding change that when mixed with my specific bad modeling habbits, created this issue. But, adding the attach_menumanager config option seems to have resolved this issue.

dewme5, just want to say that I think addition of "*Resolved*" to the subject line is a nice touch. If I was to see that in a search results it would be my first 'look see' for an answer. How did you do it?

you go into your first post, and choose to edit it. that is the one with the initial title you choose to place. I just appended the *resolved* on the end.
