I've been having a bit of a problem with the family table. does anybody know how to show a variation in colors between the instances? i've done this but i created group features in order to do this.. does anybody know another way to do it??
This is possible in WF3. The materials database has been reworked and simplified. You can ssign a color to a material, and then color the material in a family table.
If WF3 has taken care of ithe problemthen you may not want to do this. BUT if you want to try, here is how I managed to get around it.
Make a copy of all the individual surfaces (1 feature) that you want to be colored. Change the color of those copied surfaces to desired then supress the feature. Each new color requires a new surface-copy (copy the original surfs not a copy). Make a family table. Add rows of part names w/ colorand add columns ofeach colored surface feature (one for each color). Set the desired colored feature to (Y) and the rest to(N). Dont forget to verify when done.
When each family table part is opened it will come up as the color set.
