Family Table like parts

I just did this by accident a couple of weeks ago, and now I can't seem to figure out how I did it.

I somehow made one existing part an instance of a similar generic part. I can't remember if I did it in Intralink or in Pro/e. Has anyone else done this before. It was pretty handy really for combining an existing casting part with an existing machining part.

Thanks!

it can be done in pro/e using a family table like you mentioned. Adding a row is adding an instance and addinga column is adding a parameter, dimension, feature, etc. that will vary.

You missed what I said about them being existing stand alone parts to begin with. The one part was a stamped ring, and the other part was the machining of the ring. Instead of added a new instance to the stamped part, and then addingcolumns for the machining, I somehow "inserted" the machined part as an instance in the stamped part and Pro/E automatically added the columns and what not.

I missed it even when I read it a second or third time

. Never heard of but will experiment, it may be useful to me.
