Family-table members

Hi group!

I often have to use instances that change only one dimension. For instance:
I have to assembly I-beams and I have a family table for that. The problem is that sometimes I need different lenghts of the same beam-dimension/instance.

Do I have to take the lenght as a family table parameter? But then I would have more than a lot of instances... For every centimeter of lenght an own instance could not be a solution, right? Is there another way??

The best way would be to use Edit -> Setup -> Flexibility. This will allow you to set the length to be flexible, allowing you to have multiple versions of the I-beam with different lengths in the same assembly. Of course, this does mean that the different lengths will have the same part name as far as the BOM is concerned.

Thank you very much, Robert!

A cool idea!
If I have inderstood right I will have a beam threated like a spring or another elastic element??

Assuming Robert was thinking what I'm thinking, yes, the beam would
behave like a spring. You could do the same thing with an assembly
relation to set the length of the beam, but the flexiblility route is
probably better.
