Family table problem

HI all,

I have a problem hoping someone could help, here is my problem, i'm making a casting and machining model of a turbine blade, my casting is made of a 5 model in which one is a core model which has a family table. my casting uses the generic of the core, i want to create a family table in my casting which one should call the instance of the core but creating a family does'nt have the option to call the instance of the core. i don't know if there's a way to call intances inside the family table of a part. hope someone could help if it's possible...thanks in advance..BTW i'm using proe2001...

If your model is named "CORE", you cannot have an instance that has the same name. Try calling it "CORE1", or something like that.

If I understand you correctly then you have one asm casting, which is assembled of 5 parts, one of them Core have family table.
Now you want to create family table of asm casting, that will include one more instance of Core?
I hope I get it right.

This is what you should do:
First family table can't call instance, family tables work that all what you need is in generic part, then you create instances the way you need.
This means that you must in your ams casting, assemble this instance you need, then in family table of asm turn off/on this assembled instance in asm instances.

It is better practice that you don't use generic parts/asm in your design, rather create one more instance which will be exactly the same as generic and use this instance in design.

Hope it helps

Hi Isair,

Sorry if i mislead you on my question, I only have a casting part and use merged from other model for the other five parts, as our design rule we are prohibited to merge model from assembly because you can't redefine the merged feature in the part if it was merged from assembly therefore the rule was established not to merge from assembly.

the attached picture is my casting model with core, the core have pinfin, also, the core has instance named no pinfin. during casting i used the geniric of the core which has pinfin and i wan't to create a family table of the casting with the no pinfin instance of the core but in proe2001 there's no option to create a family calling out the instance of the no pinfin instance of the core.it is possible to do this? or is there a way to create this without using assembly model for merging?hope anybody could help...thanks...

Hi,

I'ved already solve my problem, i was able to call out the instance in the core after some trials and i found out that you can't call out the no pinfin instance of the core if you use the generic part of the core in creating my casting with no pinfin model..thanks anyway guys..
