Family Tables: Exploding/Unpacking

I'm having a bunch of trouble with an imported assembly in which a family table was used to represent different "states" of the assembly. Long story, but it has to do with certain parameters we use in Windchill, and nothing seems to fix it (while it's a trivial matter to import each of the non-family-table parts)

Is it possible to explode, unpack, or otherwise break apart a family table into separate, stand-alone parts? If so, how is it done?

Its very simple to make a family table instance as stand-alone. Just open the family table instance and make save a copy. Then the instance will become standalone.
