File Extensions

I'm currently running W2 with no data management controls. This is my first time working outside the confines of a large company so I am the support. My files have no extensions on them. For example hub.prt, I would like to see hub.prt.43. Can this be done without Interlink or some other data management tool?

w.h. for windoz 2000...go to the control panel>folder options>select the View tab, go down to Advanced settings: uncheck------- Hide file extensions for known file types let me know if that helps!

This ProE file naming habit, with version-add-on is still a PITA in the normal Windows environment.
