fill pattern on curved surface

This may be answered by the golf ball example posted some time ago, but is it possible to use a fill pattern on a curved surface?

I need to place a series of depressions (dots if you will) for cosmetic reasons into an area but the surface these features will be placed on is curved. I'll play around with it some more but I've had no success just yet. I'm using WF 2.0.

Thanks

Michael

if you consider golf ball example

i made a curve (you can project the curve if the surface id not regular) and make a point on curve. then pattren that curve. and make the dipression with the referance of that point and pattren it with referance.........
